Chandrayan – The Sacred Essence of Hawan Cups
For centuries, the havan has been at the heart of Indian ritual. Discover how our handcrafted havan cups turn everyday moments into sacred ones — cleansing the air and calming the mind.
The havan is one of the oldest living rituals of the Indian subcontinent — a small, sacred fire around which families have gathered for thousands of years to mark beginnings, offer gratitude, and purify their homes. At Chandrayan, we set out to honour that tradition with a havan cup that belongs equally in a temple and in a modern living room.
Each cup is shaped from natural clay and filled with a blend of pure herbs, resins, and cow-ghee — no charcoal, no synthetic accelerants, and no chemical fragrance. When lit, it releases a slow, fragrant smoke that clears stale air and settles the mind within minutes.
Why we returned to clay
Modern shortcuts replaced clay with charcoal discs and metal stands, but they burn hot, fast, and acrid. Clay breathes. It holds a gentle, even heat that lets the herbs smoulder rather than scorch, so the aroma stays rounded and the burn lasts far longer.
A havan is not about the fire. It is about the pause — the few quiet minutes when the whole house exhales together.

We work with women artisans who hand-fill every cup, weighing each blend so the fragrance is consistent from the first cup to the last. It is unhurried, deliberate work — and you can feel that intention the moment the cup is lit.
Light one at dawn, at dusk, or simply when a room needs to feel like itself again. That, to us, is what turns an everyday moment into a sacred one.
